Cancun: A Once In A Lifetime Travel Destination

Cancun: A Once In A Lifetime Travel Destination

When you’re writing a bucket list of travel destinations, there are always certain places that catch your eye. Cancun is definitely one of those places. It’s known for all the sandy beaches, the beautiful sea, and the incredible party atmosphere. Every day feels like a Cinco de Mayo celebration; it’s a place that’s constantly awash with a festival cheer.

It’s the type of city that you may only get a chance to visit once in your life. If you do, then you should jump at the opportunity! Bearing that in mind, this post will be all about this magical Mexican city. I’ll talk about some of my favorite aspects of the place, which also serve as reasons why you should maybe think about traveling there at some point.

A Contrasting City Full Of Beauty

Many people don’t know this, but Cancun isn’t all about parties and exotic nightlife. It’s very much a city that’s split in two. On the one hand, you have the area that most people are aware of. This is the place with all the glamorous beaches and fancy hotels like The Ritz-Carlton Cancun. It’s very much the party side of the city, and somewhere to go if you’re keen for a good time. Then, you have the other half which is a lot more relaxed and authentic. This is where you get all the cultural experiences in the city – from traditional taco joints, to much quieter beach areas. Cancun is a contrasting city that’s full of so much beauty, and I think it’s great that two people could go there and experience two completely different things during their stay.

One Of The Wonders Of The World At Your Fingertips

If you ever get the chance to experience one of the great wonders of the world, then you need to jump at the opportunity to do so. Cancun is a couple of hours away from Chichen Itza; an iconic site of Mayan heritage. Going to see this site is one of the best things you can do when you’re in Cancun. Again, it’s another example of just how wonderfully diverse your experience can be here. One night you’re partying away on the beaches, then the next day you’re stood in an ancient archaeological site that’s known as one of THE places to visit in the whole world. It’s quite literally something you can’t replicate anywhere else.

Tons of Things to Do

Proper Mexican Food

I’m sure many of you will proudly say you love Mexican food because you’ve had tacos and burritos before. Well, Cancun is one of the best places to go and experience proper Mexican cuisine. It’ll surprise you how different the authentic stuff is, and you may well struggle to enjoy the food we have over here. There are so many amazing places to eat in Cancun, and I’d bet a fair bit of money that your best ever food experience will happen there!

From the beaches to Mayan ruins to the Authentic Mexican Food, there aren’t many places that can compete with Cancun as a travel destination. Read why it needs to be on your travel bucket list! #VisitCancun #bucketlist #Travel Click To Tweet

  1. Great tips. I love Cancun, such a fun place to visit. (and I’m glad you included some ideas outside of the main resorts. It seems so many people visit the all-inclusive resorts and never leave the property to see the sights!)

  2. If I ever go to Cancun, I’d definitely want to go to the quieter side! I didn’t even know it had one haha; I’m not into the party/nightlife kind of stuff, so if there’s a way to go to Cancun without that, then I’m up for it!

  3. Never done MX but when I do…oh Lawd! My friend is in MX City and is heading to Cancun soon and her adventures plus this too!!

  4. Looks to me as a place, that you have to visit if you travel Mexico. My only excuse not to go there (as well as to many other countries) is that I live on the North and it takes me a lot of time to adapt to the hot climate.

  5. I really wonder how come that Cancun isn’t already on my bucket list. This place has so much to offer, Eric! Exploring Chichen Itza when in Cancun sounds like an awesome idea. How long would you recommend staying in Cancun to enjoy all these things?

    1. Well I would recommend perhaps a week to 10 days… Or forever cuz it’s so pretty there. Don’t get me wrong if you stay in a resort it’s kind of pricey but there’s so many cheaper options and great hostels. So to spend one or two days exploring the ruins, to take another side trip to go find some cenotes, to go snorkeling or deep sea diving, and then just chilling and enjoying the beach it can start racking up. But I’m a beach baby so I would stay there as long as possible

  6. I know people who visit Cancun quite frequently but I have only been there twice (only on cruises though). Would love to spend more time epxloring Cancun.
