Finding Cheap Flights: A Dollar Flight Club Review

Oh who am I kidding!? There’s no way I can tell a story or give a review of anything in just 10 minutes! But one of the biggest questions we get is “how do you afford to travel so much?” This is especially true these days with the rising costs of travel. Plus, when it comes to finding cheap flights, there is a lot of bad information out there. Therefore, I want to share one of the best tools we use to chase our Travel Bucket list with a Dollar Flight Club review. So get your pen and paper out as we discuss all the benefits of this amazing email subscription service that will save you a ton of money on your next flight!

What is the Dollar Flight Club?

To break it down, the Dollar Flight Club is basically a subscription travel service that emails out alerts when they find amazing deals from your home airport. Nearly every day, the company sends flight deals, error fares, or other travel deals straight to your email inbox. This all sounds simple enough but don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the whole setup. Jesse and his team of travel experts work tirelessly to scour different flight databases for the cheapest flights with the goal to help members save 60-90% on their next flight. Their claim to fame is that they can often help you save $500 USD on average per ticket booked!

With the rising costs of travel, finding cheap flights can be difficult. But you can save a ton of money on your next flight by getting emails! Discover how the Dollar Flight Club can help! #travelhacks #traveldeals #dollarflightclub Click To Tweet

How does the Dollar Flight Club work?

Sign up page for the Dollar Flight Club
When we first did our own personal review of Dollar Flight Club, what we liked was that it was pretty no-brainer! To get started, all you have to do is enter your email here. After you sign up, simply choose your home airport or any other airports nearby and wait for the emails to start rolling in! Now if you are not a big email fan or your inbox is exploding with junk, don’t fret, they have another option where you can also choose to get deals sent directly via text!

If you are anything like us, sometimes you “Accidently” lose or delete a very important email. But that doesn’t mean you will miss out on that amazing flight deal to Paris they found for you. Instead, of digging through all of your deleted emails, simply log in to their members-only area where they store all of the currently active deals, they found for you.

So how do you take advantage of their amazing deals?

Now, the Dollar Flight Club is not a flight booking service. They just provide cheap flight alerts through your travel subscription. But let’s say you get an email like the one above that you really want to buy the ticket. I mean who doesn’t want to sit on the beaches of the Dominican Republic during those cold months? Well, all you have to do is follow their links in the email. Here it will take you to your Dollar Flight Club membership page where you will find more information about the deal. They will recommend the best way to book the flight. In general, this will be directly with the airline or a third-party site like Google Flights, Momondo, Skyscanner, or our favorite site to search flights: Kiwi.

Does it cost anything?

With a savings of 60-90% of flights, not having a membership could definitely cost you. But we get it. The reason you are searching for a Dollar Flight Club Review in 2021 is because you want to learn how to save money, not spend it. So, in full transparency, a membership to the Dollar Flight Club comes in 3 tiers: Free, Premium, and Premium+.  Now we personally have the Premium version of Dollar Flight Club and love it, but everyone is different. So, let’s dive into the differences:

What you get with the Free Version

When you sign up with the free version you essentially get one flight deal per day. Now of course you can choose a departure region, but you are limited. As of 2021, you still do not get to choose a specific airport. Of course, this may be perfect for you if you don’t want several emails a day or really care about what airport you travel from.

  • So, what’s the CostUhhh, FREE?!?! No seriously! You get the daily email and access for free!

What you get with the Premium Version

Like I said before, we have the premium version. With Premium, you get everything in the Free Version, but you can also choose up to 5 airports for departure. Plus, the team at Dollar Flight Club can sometimes send you up to 4 flight deals a day rather than just one. It also comes with a ton of other benefits like first alerts for Premium Members. That way if there is an error fare or a last-minute deal, you won’t be late to the party!

What you get with the Premium+ Version:

As expected, you can get everything that we get in the Premium version. But for those of you who are fancy travelers, with Premium+ you can also get amazing deals on business or first-class seats! They also provide a discounted annual membership to the Mobile Passport App. That way, you can saunter past all those people waiting in line at customs when returning from an international trip.

    • So, what’s the Cost? The Premium+ Version is $99 per year. But like with the Premium Version, the Dollar Flight Club will give you a free 2-week trial of the premium+ subscription as well.

But is Dollar Flight Club Worth it?

Darcee arriving in Bangalore, India

So, we get it! When a blogger does a Dollar Flight Club review it may sound great, but do they actually use the service they are touting, or is this some sort of conspiracy to get their readers to buy from their affiliate link? Well, sadly the latter does occur sometimes. But for us, we have been Premium members of the Dollar Flight Club for several years and we want to share how it has helped us and why we think it is worth the cost.

A few years back, I was looking for flights to India, so that Darcee & I could enter and race in the Rickshaw Run. Now, in general, flights to India in a normal year can be quite expensive. But as a Dollar Flight Club premium member, I was able to set up one of my Departure cities as Washington, DC. Of course, I spent hours trying to travel hack, and search on my own for decent prices. But it was looking pretty bleak! That was until one day, the team at the Dollar Flight Club notified me of a Round Trip from Washington, DC, USA to Bangalore, India for less than $500 USD each! That was about $350 a ticket less than I was able to find on my own.

Ever wonder how some people afford to travel so much? Well, you can too with the Dollar Flight Club! Discover how you can be an insider & score amazing flight deals around the world! #cheapflights #flightdeals #cheapairfare Click To Tweet

  1. Hey, thanks for sharing this super helpful tip. I’m itching to go several different places next year and would love to save money on flights. Here’s my question…if you book one of these error fares or great deals from the Dollar Club and then have to cancel or change flights because of covid rules, is it harder to reschedule, cancel, or get a credit?

    1. Great questions Tami, So I asked our friends over at Dollar Flight Club & they told me that 90% of Mistake Fares do get honored. Essentially, in their experiences, Airlines don’t want any bad PR by rescinding flights from customers so they just let it happen. But with that said, perhaps considering waiting a week or so before you book other travel plans like hotels and tourist activities. by then, you should have received your email that the airline has confirmed your ticket.

  2. Didn’t hear about the Dollar Flight Club before. Will have to check it out, thanks.
And you’re right, the Premium membership does sound like a good idea. 😉

  3. Wow! I had no idea such a service existed! I have “queen status” with Southwest Airlines (including a companion pass for my daughter), so we pretty much default to it for all domestic travel and then one big international airlines for everything else (so we build points with them for international travel). I’m going to have to check Dollar Flight Club out, especially when we start traveling internationally again!

  4. Looks like a solid option for travel planning for the value-minded. I love that there is free version to try out.
