Where to Stay for an Authentic LA ExperienceStaying near Sunset Boulevard can offer you an authentic LA experience

When we think of LA, Hollywood Boulevard is the first thing to come to mind. Whilst it’s a great tourist spot, there’s plenty of other great places to consider. Take Highland Park, LA’s first official suburb, it has a history brimming with art and culture. It’s been transformed in recent years to become a cultural hub, so it’s definitely a must-visit and a great place to stay for amateur foodies in particular!

Or head to Sunset Boulevard and experience its famous nightlife. Staying here comes with the possibility of waking up with a hangover if you really do take advantage of the music and comedy clubs. You could really embrace LA luxury though and nurse that hangover with IV Therapy.

If you’re looking to embrace travelling culture though, there are loads of great hostels to choose from. They’re up to a really high standard and in excellent locations; like House of Trestles that’s located right next to the beach so you can enjoy surf, sand and stunning views.

We’ve touched on Highland Park being a great spot for foodies, but LA has a lot of options to offer. You can’t come to LA and not sample the Tacos, they’re an LA street food staple. Look out for Mariscos Jalisco, they’ve been serving tacos from a truck since well before it became a craze. That’s a great indicator that they’re the best on offer.

Another LA staple is breakfast, and there’s so much to choose from. From a quick morning bagel to enjoying brunch on Venice Beach, there is something for everyone. So take the locals advice, slow down in the morning and take the time to enjoy. Starting with food!

Another great attraction is the Getty Centre, it’s a real triple threat. It’s got a top-notch art collection, remarkable architecture and gorgeous gardens to wander around. But the greatest thing about it is that it’s totally free.

    1. I must admit that when we visited LA we stayed out of town and came in as day trips. We had no trouble finding great options for breakfast. Although we missed bagels when we visited Venice Beach. But it was a fun spot for people watching.
