Erm… Kinabalu and Sipadan, while indeed in Borneo, is not in Indonesia. They’re both in Malaysia.

Indonesia is such a gorgeous country! Every island is unique amd stunning in its own way. I have never heard of Bangka, it certainly looks untouched and pretty!

I really appreciated this informative post. I’ve heard of Borneo and Sumatra but didn’t realize they were part of Indonesia. I’m pretty ignorant about Southeast Asia, actually. It sounds like each island has something unique to offer, and it’s good to have some recommendations since there are so many islands.

These all look really cool. Indonesia was hit hard with the volcano and I think you can find some amazing deals. This list helps me narrow things down diving off Sipadan seems amazing. I am expecting a lot better vis than I would get off of La Jolla Shores.

And I have only been to Bali! I met a girl in Bali who was from Borneo and talking to her instantly made me want to visit there. Java and Sumatra also look pretty awesome and I’d love to combine them with my next trip. The only place in your post that I am not aware of is Bangka and like you mention, its not very popular with tourists but it looks gorgeous. Such a hidden gem!

I’ve been twice now to Bali, but wish I had travelled to the other Indonesian islands. Sumatra and Borneo look incredible, and I can only imagine the number of photos I would take! I’ve never heard of Bangka but it looks and sounds pretty from your description!

Sumatra and Borneo have been on my bucket list for such a long time. I am just facinated with the island life and how it feels to live right next to a volcano. Beautiful experience I must say.
