A lovely day out for families and Harry Potter fans! I have heard that this route has become very popular and for that reason I thought that the ticket price might have been higher. If I was to take this train journey I might splash out on a table for two or private car with high tea! Interesting to read about this experience, thank you

I have not been on the Hogwarts Express, but I have seen it chuffing over the Glenfinnan Viaduct! Fabulous sight! Good advice to book early: we did not and there were no tickets available when we were in the area. We were actually staying not far from Mallaig in the campervan, but we drove the bridge to Skye rather than taking the ferry. The west coast of Scotland is a beautiful part of the world.

The most important question that I have is did Eric spring for the High Tea for you? I am sad that I missed this when I visited Scotland, as I too am a train-loving Potterphile. Have you been to Alaska? The glass-domed train ride from Seward to Anchorage was my favorite!

In reply to Candy. Yeah, I like the Harry Potter movies but actually never read the books. But Darcee I think read them 2x. But either way, the adventure on the Jacobite Train was great for both types of fans. It wasn't too over-the-top Harry Potter cheeky because the scenery in this part of Scotland is the REAL highlight!

I’m not even a HP fan and would LOVE to experience this. I think the price is very reasonable for the amazing experience. It’s a great way to explore Scotland and I adore brick laid streets 🙂

First, I’ve never been on a train. Second, I’m not sure Hogwarts is one of the places I’d want to visit. Maybe it’s because I’m not a fan.

In reply to Kemi. I have to agree Kemi! Of course, we loved the real Harry Potter Train Experience aboard the Jacobite Steam Train. But, our adventures in Fort William, Scotland were amazing. With Ben Nevis towering overhead, the old town, Loch Ness nearby, and so many other things we missed out on, we could have spent another week in this amazing part of the U.K.

In reply to Indya | The Small Adventurer. Well, the Hogwarts Express Jacobite Steam Train is part of the real train system out of Fort William, Scotland that allows transport to and from the area. Plus with Ben Nevis right there and Loch Ness nearby, this train system is active and running currently!
