Never approach Elk when you visit Oregon

There is only one place to begin, and this is with the wild animals in Oregon. A lot of people assume that it is safe to approach Elk because most everyday deer will simply run away if a human gets too close. Well, an Elk is not an everyday deer, and they will often stand their ground. These huge animals with their big antlers are beautiful but you shouldn’t try to make friends with one of them. You should never try to approach an Elk or feed one. Instead, respect their space and admire them from a distance.

Getting to the Columbia River Gorge is easier than expected

A lot of people travel to the Columbia River Gorge from Portland and they expect a long journey, which will take at least an hour. However, the drive is really easy and goes quickly. A lot of people find it only takes 30 minutes. Beautiful drives, hikes, and waterfalls are all within close proximity to the city.

Look online for the best vacation rentals

When visiting Oregon, you have many different accommodation options to choose from. While it is the natural option to search for a hotel when booking any type of trip, it is better if you look for holiday homes that you can rent. There are lots of great vacation rentals online, which will provide you with a comfortable and homely stay while also providing some of the most amazing views of the area.

Plastic bags are banned in some cities

It is also worth noting that there is a plastic bag ban in some cities in Oregon. This includes Portland and a number of other major cities. It is worth doing a bit of research beforehand to find out whether the area you are visiting has a ban or not. If so, you should pack a small reusable bag. A lot of the stores in these cities will only give out paper bags, which do not have any handles. This makes it difficult to carry all of your stuff, so it is good to check this out first so you don’t end up trying to juggle a zillion paper bags.

The legalization of marijuana isn’t a big deal

You may already be aware of the fact that marijuana is legal in Oregon. For some people, they are a bit worried about this. However, there is no real difference. While there are some smoke shops around, you won’t notice any difference. At the most, you may smell weed instead of cigarettes, and that is about it.

You can find almost every and any type of landscape

One of the most incredible things about Oregon is the landscapes that are on offer. You can find virtually every kind of landscape imaginable when you visit this state, and this is no exaggeration. You will find lush forests, waterfalls, hot springs, urban environments, lava fields, rock formations, the arid desert, towering mountains, coastal waters, and much more. You are definitely going to bring your camera with you when you are traveling here.

Hopefully, you now feel more prepared for your trip Heading to Oregon. As you can see, there is a lot to love about this beautiful state. However, you also need to be prepared if you are to make the most of your trip here, and if you are to make sure that you do not end up in a hospital because you have tried to make friends with a wild animal.
