Stunning Sights In South America You Won’t Want to Miss!

Of course, there is nowhere as exciting to visit as the stunning continent of South America. In fact, you will find so many stunning sights in South America to see, your main problem will be deciding how to fit them all in. A choice that the information below can help you with.

Machu Picchu, Peru

Undoubtedly one of the most iconic things to do when traveling in South America is to visit the fortified city atop the Andes known as Machu Picchu. In fact, if you have a sense of mystery, this stunning site is one that you should not miss. The reason is that even to this day, there are secrets Machu Picchu has yet to give up. One of which is what the real purpose of the city was. While others include the strange dry stone blocks that were used to build the site.

Additionally, there are a high number of sites on the mountain to see, including a secret temple. There is also a reasonably well-hidden museum that is full of the richest and most interesting information. Just remember that a trip up to Machu Picchu is not likely to be cheap, with the train from the city costing around $100 alone!

 

Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, Santa Marta, Colombia

Less well known, but still a site worth a visit is the Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, located in Santa Marta in the country of Colombia. In fact, there you will find a virtual paradise of sandy beaches, palm trees, coastal outcroppings, and jungle.

Of course, with such an environment, there is a great deal of exotic wildlife to be spotted as well. Then there is the gorgeous blue ocean to enjoy, but remember the strong tides mean paddling is fine, but swimming is out of the question. You may even want to stay in the park with options from cabins to tents to choose from.

Perito Moreno Glacier (Ghiacciaio Perito Moreno), Argentina

You may think of South America as being a place of sun and heat. However, it is a hugely diverse continent and home to many different types of environments and climates. A fact evidenced by the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina.

In fact, the Perito Moreno Glacier is one of 48 different glaciers located through the Andes. Although, with its crystal blue waters and high cliffs of ice, it is the most spectacular.

You can even choose to take a trek across the glacier if you are feeling adventurous. Tours are regular and plentiful, and the good news is they are not too expensive either. At around $30 per person.

Alternatively, take in the vast expanse of ice from the wooden viewing platforms opposite. A place where you are sure to get some stunning photos for your album or social media! Just don’t forget you woolly sock as it can get pretty chilly!
