Planning The Ultimate Weekend In Vegas

Surely, this has got to have a place on most people’s bucket list. A crazy weekend in Las Vegas with a group of friends (without waking up to face tattoos and a tiger in the bathroom) has got to be one of the most popular vacations to add to a bucket list. Travel

First of all, you need to arrive in style, and luckily for you, there are plenty of options to do just that. Some may even tick off some other items on your bucket list. For instance, you could travel down the famous Route 66 to head towards Las Vegas. You could either hire a limo or jump in a convertible Cadillac El Dorado in true Fear & Loathing style. If you are really planning on going all out and want a bit of a James Bond feel to your gambling experience, you may be asking yourself how much does it cost to rent a private plane? Well, it can either be very expensive or surprisingly cheap, depending on how you like to travel and if you can get a discount by using an ‘empty leg.’ The price will definitely be worth it when you’re suited and booted, enjoying a chilled vodka martini – shaken not stirred – at 35,000 ft.

Accommodation

After making your grand entrance, there’s no way you’re going to settle for a tiny motel room on the outskirts. You’re staying where the action is. The MGM Grand, Caesar’s Palace, The Palazzo and many others are all well-known for their luxury and amazing shows. Save up enough money, and you might even be able to treat yourselves to one of the many luxurious suites available which have enormous beds, a lounge area, balconies, and amazing views of the strip. Wherever you choose to stay, you’re sure to have a fantastic time at some of the most luxurious hotels on the continent.

Activities

Where to begin? Cirque du Soleil regularly appear at the MGM Grand, Caesar’s Palace have Celine Dion and Elton John appearing through the year, and there are a huge array of magic shows, dance shows, burlesque shows and any other show you could think of. Whatever your artistic tastes, Vegas can accommodate. Beyond the nightlife, there’s Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and The Grand Canyon, all of which can be explored and appreciated via hot air balloon, helicopter, and even in a Hummer. You can also head out into the desert on a Baja buggy excursion and attack the dunes, or even take a tour of Wayne Newton’s (AKA Mr Las Vegas) private estate, Casa de Shenandoah, sporting a museum and an Arabian stable as well as numerous pieces of artwork. Las Vegas is a hub of life and culture with an almost infinite amount of fun to be had, both day and night.

  1. Loved reading this detailed & informative post, definately think I need another trip to Vegas! Bookmarked this post as my future guide.

  2. I have never been to Vegas! This post of yours just makes me plan a super luxurious trip to this vibrant city. Although the private jet might be a bit out of my reach, I can perhaps splurge on the fancy hotels like Caesar’s Palace when I visit.

  3. Las Vegas is on my list, I just need to save up some money! Think it will take me years to get a private jet, though. Thanks for the tips 🙂

  4. I’ve been in Vegas twice, going back again in June, there are always things to do there. Taking all your advices in consideration!

  5. I would love to visit Las Vegas some day! I can’t believe that a private plane can actually be reasonable? I’d love to fly in one one day but always considered them way out of my budget. I always wanted to stay in Caesar’s Palace because that’s where they stayed in the TV show ‘Friends’, haha!

  6. Great post about the city of lights 🙂 Never been there, as I’m from Europe, and I need to dedicate quite a long vacation, that’s worth this long visit. But… one day, one day…

    1. depends on if you’re just going from the airport to your hotel or you want them to drive you around and how many people are in the car. You can sometimes find them really cheap for a couple people like $100 American

  7. I’ve always wanted to go to Vegas and was going to have my hen weekend there a couple of years ago. However, had my hen in Marrakech instead. Driving down Route 66 in a convertible Cadillac is right up my street!
Why not arrive there in style. And I love Cirque du Soleil, having seen a few shows in London.
Taking a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon would be on the top of my list! Maybe I could persuade my husband to go to Vegas this year! : )

  8. BRB. I need to pack my bag and fly to Vegas. Not until recently, Vegas sparked my interest. Big cities and neon lights didn’t interest me much, but hearing great stories and reading posts such as this have changed my mind about Vegas. Can’t afford for a private plane right now, but any plane would do lol.

  9. My hubby and I love Vegas. We go at least 3-4 times a year. I love the Cirque shows and have seen many of them, plus relaxing by the pool and great food. Wonderful weekends 🙂

  10. The only place I have been to in the US is Las Vegas, and it was quite as fabulous as you say, especially as I was there for a wedding. Mind you I did enjoy sticking my nose out into the desert too.

  11. Yes, there are tons of things to do in Vegas (even outside the Strip). The Neon Museum is fantastic and Downtown is full of colorful street art. Plus, there are beautiful park only miles away (Red Rock Canyon, for example)

  12. Most folks don’t think beyond gambling when it comes to Vegas. Your post highlights that it has so much more to offer.

  13. I have never been to Vegas, never lived THAT far from it either. I hear there are numerous things for families there, I just couldn’t imagine the crowds. Maybe one day, because this should be a bucket list item it seems.

  14. I think it would be incredible to hire a private plane or jet for the weekend! I’ve twice to vegas, but only ever to the strip. The next time I return, I definitely want to check out the canyons, and see something closer to nature than just the nightlife. That said, you still can’t beat a night out in Vegas, it’s always memorable!

  15. I love Vegas, I don’t think there’s another place in the world that matches the vibe it has. We were there for a weekend too, I think about 3 years ago, and the number of brides and grooms I saw, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many in one place! In the casinos, outside the chapels, on the roads. LOL. I also loved visiting the themed hotels, The Venetian was one of my favourites apart from Ceaser’s Palace. I just wish I had an extra day so that I could also visit Grand Canyon for a day trip!

  16. I would love to visit Las Vegas someday. I will surely keep your article in mind when I do. 🙂

  17. It is on my bucket list. Sounds like lots to do. Great article about Vegas. I like new adventures and this definitely sounds like one.

  18. Since I tend to be a bit snobbish, some places do not attract me because I think they are tacky – before I even visited. And then, when for some reason I do visit, I enjoy them a lot and find them super-fun. I’m pretty sure that Las Vegas is one of the place that I first roll my eyes – especially now that I’ve read in your post that it’s not all casino and getting wasted; sounds actually pretty appealing.

  19. Oh Vegas, the one place in the world that I’d love to go, but feel I’ll never be able to afford 🙁 even the flights there from the UK are expensive, not to mention the accommodation! Maybe one day, if I win the lottery haha! x

  20. I cant wait to visit one day! Las Vegas is on our list to do. Definitely on our bucket list. The Palazzo looks super luxurious!

  21. Great post! I’ve been to Vegas once a number of years ago but wish I had known more because I would have done the trip much differently! Your tips are great and I really enjoyed the movie references. Will definitely keep this in mind for future trips.
